Mompreneur: Finding Balance to Achieve My Dreams

I am a married woman of 4 and feel so blessed to be able to do something I love, which is creating innovative products that empower women to feel beautiful and confident. At this time I am also working full-time for another while achieving this. Balancing all of this has been a quite a process, but has also made me prioritize.

My priorities are God, family and taking care of myself and my company (Alonus Wear.) I tried hard to manage all of this, but it seemed by the end of the day I was exhausted and I would drop the ball on one thing or another. I was frustrated with this and decided it was time for a change, so I began to do the following and it has made a world of difference:

1. Plan my day the night before and set daily personal and business goals.
2. Limit social media to 30 minutes in the morning.
3. Read books and watch videos that promote positive thinking while working out.
4. Spend quality time with husband and children (favorite part of my day.)
5. Pray, meditate and focus on the here and now and envision who and what I want to be as if it already exists.
6. Discipline to go to bed before 10:30 (working on this one.)

This has allowed me to not feel overwhelmed and to truly enjoy every day. If things that I want to do, do not add to my 4 main goals, I often time will not do it because it may throw me off of my schedule. I love have time with my friends, watching the Golden Girls (don't judge me),  and doing other fun things, but all of this is in moderation so that I can achieve my main goals. I hope that this helps someone who may feel frustrated or who maybe would just like more organizations.

3 Simple Tips to Help Choose the Right Fitness Clothing

The best workouts include soreness, exhaustion, feeling refreshed, while being drenched in sweat. Wearing the right exercise apparel can be the difference between enjoying your workout versus feeling miserable. Purchasing comfortable and stylish fitness apparel can be the perfect motivation whether you are headed in the gym, yoga studio, or exercising at home.

The Right Fabric:

·       Look for fabrics that have been designed to pull sweat from the skin. The right fabric will create a better and more comfortable work out.

  • Wicking fabrics are made of polyester/lycra blends are a perfect match for exercise/activities that result in excessive sweating. The fabric will leave you dry while the sweat evaporates from the body. Many of these wicking fabrics have the feel of cotton and the benefits of the polyester/lycra blend.
  • Cotton is very comfortable, but tends to absorb sweat and leaves your clothing feeling wet and heavy. If you plan on not sweating much at all and have a very low impact activity this may work for you.
  • Breathable Fabrics make sure that the apparel does not hold moisture in the crotch area with being breathable, as this can cause lead to infections.
  • Avoid fabrics that will rub and irritate your skin during your workouts. The fabric should also include spandex for flexibility and range of motion.

The Right Fit:

  • Make sure you find fitness wear that provides the perfect fit for that particular exercise or activity. This will boost your confidence and can even motivate you to work out more often. Clothing that is too baggy or too tight may leave you feeling uncomfortable, not very confident and a negative feeling when it comes to working out.
  • Activities involving a lot of stretching and position changes will need fabrics that a very stretchy and moisture wicking, while jogging and biking activities.

Clothing for Changing Seasons:

  • During hot weather, wear clothing that is moisture wicking, breathable that allows you to move freely and comfortably. Avoid wearing clothing that can cause you to overheat or absorb too much moisture creating wet and heavy clothing.
  • During cold weather start out with a moisture wicking top and add a layer of insulation (fleece jacket) on top of that. Make sure that you cover your head and ears. As you exercise you may become warm or hot, so keep this in mind.
  • Wind and rain will not stop the workout enthusiast as long as you have a protective waterproofing and wind proofing layer that should be worn on top of the fleece jacket.
The righ        The right fitness gear can make a great workout even better. Remember to get fitness apparel that is
comfortable, moisture wicking, and the right fit to take your workout to the next level. Also as a
bonus, choose fitness apparel that represents your personality and lifestyle. A splash of color and/or
a touch of fashion can go a long way and even transition with you throughout a busy day.

A Workout for Sports Moms

I have a son in soccer and baseball and a daughter in soccer as well. I love how much my kids enjoy playing sports and the memories that are created by doing so. I look forward to the excitement of the game, the team work element learned, and I have fully embraced the concept of "soccer mom" minus the mom jeans.

I have a workout routine of going to the gym after my husband comes home from work, but this would definitely change things up.  Was there a way to juggle a full time job, starting a business, 4 kids, being a wife and soccer practice? I felt a little overwhelmed and not sure how I could get my workouts in and balance things out. Well I decided to look at the glass as half full and do cardio (jogging) while my kids practiced. This would allow me to get cardio in 2 to 3 times a week at the very least and on the days of no practice, I would weight train. Where there is a will there is a way and in this situation, everybody wins!. So while we are busy being "super moms," let's throw on our headphones, workout attire, good running shoes, and make it happen!

Workout with Kids

Yesterday I was unable to go to the gym and workout. I was tired because I had a baby who would not go to bed, which made me too tired to even get dressed. My husband came home to encourage me to workout, but no amount of encouragement helped. Well my kids, ages 7 and 5, wanted to practice their numbers and spend time with me while doing so. Well it came to me as clear as day that I could have the best of both worlds. I decided to workout at home by jumping rope for 25 minutes and have my kids count the number of times that I jumped the rope. I ended up getting a great work out in, time with my kids, and they were learning at the same time. It was also encouraging that they also wanted to workout by jumping rope and dancing. Now I know there really is no good excuse not to workout with kids. What better way to teach them about health, exercise, and even counting numbers. Well ladies it is time to get that workout in!

How my fitness journey started

I would like to introduce myself and how I became interested in blogging about fitness. I am a 35 year old wife and mother of 4 children with the most recent child being born 8 months ago. I have always loved to exercise and was blessed to meet my husband while working out (hint single ladies.) After having my last child I was very interested in going back to the gym to get in shape, but to find time to go was difficult. To make matters worse, I could not find any fitness wear that would hide my "problem areas." So finding the motivation, energy, and fitness apparel was a daunting task. After deliberating on how I could get back in the gym and get my shape back, I decided to become creative with my time. I used my lunch to go get a quick workout in and then eat my lunch when I got back from working out. This worked perfect with my schedule and gave me an extra burst of energy I needed for the middle of my day. I also solved the other issue of not being able to find fitness apparel that would help me feel confident and comfortable while I was losing my post baby body. So I created a fitness apparel line "Alonus Wear" which enhances the stomach, hips, thighs, buttocks, and back. So now there is no excuse to not focus on health and fitness and I hope this will encourage other women to do the same in this new year.
